BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
Saucy, shredded, and on the table in five minutes.
Canned chicken is already cooked, so all it needs is sauce and heat. Shred it with a fork, coat it in sauce, and microwave it until it's hot through. It's the fastest real sandwich in the library.
Steps
- 1
1 can chicken, drained
⅓ cup sauce
Bonus, if you have it:
BBQ sauce
small diced onion
Break up the chicken with a fork in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the sauce until coated.
- 2
—
Cover loosely and microwave 60–90 seconds, stirring halfway, until hot all the way through.
- 3
3 buns
Warm the buns 10–15 seconds in the microwave, if you like.
- 4
—
Bonus, if you have it:
Shredded cheese
Pile the chicken onto the buns and serve.
Make it yours
BBQ sauce is the classic, but any sauce you like works: ketchup with a little sugar, a spoonful of salsa, or even pasta sauce for more of a sloppy-joe style. Canned tuna is surprisingly good this way too. If there's cabbage or coleslaw mix around, a handful on top adds crunch.
